“Unforgivable.” That’s what Governor Jeb Bush had to say this week about Charlie Crist’s early support of Obama’s stimulus:

“He is the only statewide political leader that embraced the stimulus package when Republicans were fighting to suggest an alternative. . . . In its place, we have this massive spending bill that is not related to stimulus. It is related to trying to carry out a liberal agenda. He did it the day before the vote, it was a mistake, and then he denies that he would have supported the bill.” See the interview here.

Unfortunately, Crist still doesn’t understand this. He continues to run a negative campaign, based on dirty tricks and distortions of his record and Marco’s.

Just this week, two polls showed Marco leading him by 18 points, staffers abandoned his campaign, and reports of him switching parties or running as an independent are rampant thanks to an active effort from ultra-liberal Daily Kos, who REALLY wants Charlie to join their team.

After Crist went on national TV and related discussions with his friends about running as an independent, Crist allies leaked personal financial records to the media in an attempt to link Marco to the previous Crist-selected state party administration’s failure and mismanagement. This desperate attempt to allow the liberal media to spin the truth will only backfire on Crist for turning on his own party. The truth is, Marco has provided the state party chairman with all his information in an effort to help speed up a forensic audit of the ousted Crist team’s gross mismanagement and waste.
