Miami, FL – U.S. Senate candidate Marco Rubio today issued the following statement in support of Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum’s challenge to the constitutionality of federal health care legislation:
“I commend Attorney General McCollum’s efforts to prevent an unconstitutional federal health insurance mandate on Floridians. Washington’s big government politicians have proven there is no price they aren’t willing to pay to push through their health care takeover, even if it means violating the U.S. Constitution through this federal mandate.
“The proposed federal health care legislation runs contrary to America’s founding principles of limited government and individual freedom. The fact that even the non-partisan Congressional Research Service has raised concerns about its constitutionality is yet another example of how Democrats are all too willing to ignore the bounds of our Constitution to advance their big government agenda. It also demonstrates their contempt for the Tenth Amendment as they seek to empower the federal government at the expense of powers reserved to states and individuals. Hopefully, today’s election in Massachusetts will compel them to take a hard look at the error of their ways.
“When he endorsed President Obama’s failed stimulus, Charlie Crist embraced a policy that similarly called for more taxes, more spending and more government intrusion into Floridians’ lives. It also helped Democrats set the course for other government interventions like this health care policy. As a result, individual states are now on the defensive to protect their citizens’ freedom by challenging the misguided policies coming out of Washington. I commend Attorney General McCollum for doing so.”

I am very pleased with Attornery General McCollum and Senator Rubio standing up for the American people and letting it be known that it is unconstitutional what the Democrats are trying to do. The socialized medicine that the Democrats are trying to pass is unconstitutional, and it is even more absurd that they will not listen to the American people in which they are suppose to serve.
