Crist Campaign Fumbles Again

This ad, called Do you Count to Marco Rubio, may be the worst I’ve seen in this election cycle. In it, the Crist people are taking Marco Rubio to task for saying illegal immigrants shouldn’t be counted in the census. …

The title of the ad actually implies it is directed at illegal immigrants, as if Charlie is appealing to them for support. …

The ad ran quotes from newspapers criticizing Rubio for opposing counting illegals. So what we have here is Charlie attacking Rubio for taking a hard line on illegal immigrants, and using the hated liberal media to back up his case. Are these people completely clueless? For crying out loud, Charlie, bring in some pros and give yourself a chance.

Meanwhile, Rubio has returned to the scene of the Obama-Crist hug to hold a press event. No explanation required there.

I hear much about Crist’s vaunted $7 million war chest. I don’t care if he has $100 million. His campaign is doing more harm than good with the money.

    RUBIO CAMPAIGN STATEMENT

“By re-stating Marco Rubio’s principled position, Charlie Crist and his campaign did us a favor. They made it clear to Floridians that, when it comes to illegal immigration and the Census, Charlie Crist shares the same position as Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, ACORN and labor unions. On the other hand, Marco Rubio believes in an accurate count of illegal immigrants so long as they are not counted when determining states’ congressional power in Washington. Charlie Crist’s position on this issue is the same as it is on the stimulus: he is for whatever allows him to spend as many taxpayer dollars as possible. It’s why Charlie Crist would fit right in with the Washington tax, borrow and spend crowd, but exactly why Floridians are abandoning him in droves.” – Alex Burgos, Rubio for Senate spokesman
